Home Anti-Mosquito Remedies For Your Horse

Now that summer arrives, the flies and, especially, the mosquitoes, make an appearance around our horse. It must be borne in mind that not only do they pose a nuisance due to their bites, but some can transmit diseases.

But let’s not dramatize. We leave you a couple of tricks that we hope will be useful to prevent bites.

Remedy 1

Ingredients:

  • Apple vinager
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 tablespoon of eucalyptus essential oil

Once mixed well all the ingredients are added in a spray bottle. It is advisable to shake the mixture well. The application should be sprinkled on the skin of the horse avoiding at all times that the product comes into contact with the eyes and mucous membranes of the animal.

Remedy 2

Ingredients:

  • 2 glasses of water
  • 6 cloves of garlic
  • 4 drops of lavender oil
  • 4 tablespoons of vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil

Once mixed well all the ingredients are added in a spray bottle. It is advisable to shake the mixture well. The application should be sprinkled on the skin of the horse avoiding at all times that the product comes into contact with the eyes and mucous membranes of the animal.

There are other repellents of flies and natural mosquitoes such as citronella (or lemon balm) essential oil. In the case of relief of stinging of bites, it is always advisable to use aloe vera, or tea tree oil.

You can also try adding a clove of garlic in your food, although do not be surprised that the horse rejects its smell!
